Matthew Killingsworth
Researcher; mind-wandering and happiness
Co-researcher with Dan Gilbert on mind-wandering, using experience-sampling to ask thousands of people in real time what they were doing, whether their mind was on it, and how happy they felt. Found people are distracted from their current activity nearly half the time (47%), and are consistently less happy in those distracted moments regardless of the activity itself. See Killingsworth Gilbert Mind-Wandering Happiness Study.
