Jon Evans
Host, Uncensored CMO; former CMO, BrewDog
Former CMO at BrewDog and host of the marketing podcast Uncensored CMO, which has repeatedly ranked alongside Nudge at the top of the UK marketing podcast charts. Studied marketing at university, then spent several years in early marketing roles finding the theory he'd studied had no practical application, until discovering behavioral and consumer psychology. Started his podcast in 2019 to interview experts in that space; by this episode the show was approaching a million downloads for the year.
Co-hosts a cross-show special with Phill Agnew trading five favorite marketing lessons each. Shares his own account of being fired from BrewDog (twice, in one year) as the direct origin of his podcasting career, framing openness about failure as something that only helped his credibility and memorability — illustrating the Pratfall Effect from the inside. Also discusses the value of visible purpose and skin in the game in brands like Tony's Chocolonely and Patagonia, and cites Wanting by Luke Burgess for Mimetic Desire.
